Kailua is a quaint, sunny beach town offering residents an array of activities from windsurfing and kayaking at Kailua Beach Park to neighborhood shopping centers, restaurants, churches, fitness centers, public and private schools and Castle hospital. Homes built along waterways are abundant here and are some of the most popular in the Oahu real estate market. There are homes built along the tranquil Kawainui Canal, premium beachfront property in Lanikai, additional beachfront property along North Kalaheo Avenue and the landmark Kaelepulu Pond has given rise to the Enchanted Lake subdivision and shopping center. Surrounding the town are several townhouses and condominiums, two of which border the peaceful conservation area of Kaelepulu Stream. The newest addition to the area is The Bluffs located on a rolling hillside. Residents can take the Pali Highway to downtown Honolulu, a 30-minute drive.
Tranquil Kaneohe Bay and the Koolau Mountain Range border the community of Kaneohe. Townhomes, homes and the Kaneohe Marine Corps Base surround the shoreline of Kaneohe Bay. Away from the bay residents focus their views on the Koolau Mountains and lush foliage that grow well in this area. The gated community of Haiku Plantations offers residents large acre plots nestled against the majestic mountain range. Kaneohe is home to regional shopping center Windward Mall and several other neighborhood and strip malls as well as eateries, a medical plaza, public and private schools, churches and two megaplexes. Hawaii Pacific University has an extension college in Kaneohe that is particularly focused on courses for the business professional. Residents have access to three highways leading to central and leeward Oahu and the Pearl Harbor Naval Base.
